Appraisal Services
We provide Estate Concierge Services designed to meet your specific needs, including:
Non-Cash Charitable Donation
Whether you are downsizing, redecorating, or clearing a house to be put on the market, donating your items is a great way to receive a federal tax deduction, while also benefiting a charitable organization.
For donated personal property valued at more than $5,000 total, a qualified appraisal is required, per IRS Form 8283 (Non-Cash Charitable Contributions Section B).
The personal property is sorted, inventoried, professionally photographed, and appraised at fair market value in the secondary market with comparables for IRS Form 8283 required for tax deduction.
The items are packaged for transport, and the designated charity pick-up is scheduled while the Treasures crew is on location. The charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization takes the donated items to resell.
The correct fair market value is often more than the same piece will sell for at auction or an estate sale. The percentage of the total fair market value that the client is allowed to deduct from his or her income taxes can be higher than the net return from an auction or an estate sale.
Estate Tax
If you have inherited items of personal property in a decedent’s gross estate valued above the IRS threshold for incurring estate tax , you will need an estate tax appraisal to calculate the estate tax owed.
The value of the decedent’s estate is reported on Form 706 (U.S. Estate and Generation Skipping Transfer Tax Return). Form 706 records personal property on Schedule F – Miscellaneous Property.
The personal property is appraised at fair market value, photographed, and inventoried for the IRS Form 706 Form required for estate tax.
We ensure that your items will be handled with the utmost care and will remain in their original locations post examination. Each of the items will be documented with detailed descriptions and professional photographs to produce a thorough and comprehensive report.
Estate Distribution
When it comes to settling an estate, executing a trust, or administering a will, accurately determining the fair market value of personal property is crucial for equitable distribution among heirs. We specialize in providing unbiased and ethical valuations.
The personal property is appraised at fair market value, professionally photographed, and inventoried with detailed descriptions, resulting in a transparent appraisal report of the items to be dispersed.
We ensure that your items will be handled with the utmost care.
Insurance for Scheduled Coverage and Damage Claims
It is vital to insure your valuable personal property at its current replacement value. Our insurance appraisals provide the required documentation needed for your insurance company or moving company, safeguarding your items against damage, theft, or natural disasters.
The personal property is appraised at replacement value in the current market, professionally photographed, and inventoried with detailed descriptions, documenting the item or items’ condition prior to loss or damage. We ensure that your items will be handled with the utmost care and will remain in their original locations post examination.
It is beneficial to schedule high-value items that are not completely covered by a standard homeowners' or renters' policy.
